Tropical coastal communities throughout the world are becoming increasingly aware of the value of the ocean and of the importance of responsible marine management. Faced with growing human and climatic threats to marine ecosystems and livelihoods, communities are developing new and often pioneering approaches to sustainable use and protection of marine resources. 

We hope communities, their NGO partners, conservationists, and academics will contribute and share these experiences, in order to facilitate information exchange, further replicate locally managed marine areas, and conserve our marine habitats while bettering the lives of those who depend on the seas.
